Overhead Door Service & Install Tech - Helper

Wallace + Wallace is looking for a full time Overhead Door Service/Install Tech to join our team.

The primary responsibilities of the 'Overhead Door Service/Install Tech - Helper' is to provide outstanding customer service to our clients, attend job sites, install overhead doors, diagnose problems, provide solutions and carry out required work while reporting directly to the Construction Supervisor.

Primary Tasks and Duties:

  • Become an integral member of the Field Service Team
  • Gaining experience on all product lines and service support
  • Attend service calls, diagnose, problem solve and repair in an efficient manner
  • Install for new builds/retrofits – Residential and Commercial projects
  • May be required to attend after hour calls when scheduled

Requirements:

  • Construction and/or Electrical experience is considered an asset

Shipping and Receiving

We are seeking a full time Shipping and Receiving team member. The role requires an individual who is hands on, self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Tasks and Duties:

  • Responsible for the safe flow of industrial goods in and out of our warehouse and yard, checking for accuracy, and appropriately processing orders. Supports the warehouse by stocking shelves, performing housekeeping activities within the work area, and operating a forklift in support of the movement of goods
  • Receives goods into inventory, including unpacking and verifying contents against appropriate documents
  • Prepares packages to be sent out in accordance with information on the packing slip; picks and packs goods for shipment as per customer and branch orders.
  • Ensures goods are shipped in accordance with organizational best practices and customer requirements
  • Stock shelves with received shipments, using the appropriate sorting/organization system and equipment, including forklifts
  • Ensures the warehouse is maintained in a clean and organized fashion at all times
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
  • Operates forklift and activities within the work area in a safe manner

Light/Medium Duty Truck Fleet Mechanic

Reports to: Asset Manager

Perform preventative maintenance, safeties, diagnosis, and repairs on pickups, light & medium duty trucks, and light construction equipment in a safe, efficient, quality minded and production focused manner. Perform maintenance and repair on any equipment used by in house installers (small engines, gas & diesel, hydraulics, battery powered)

Key Result Areas:

A. Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to maximize safety, productivity, and life of the unit.

(Degree of importance: High – 40% of job)

  1. Perform SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) inspections.
  2. Perform preventive maintenance on pickups and light duty trucks such as fluid changes, lubrications, safety inspections, and brake repairs.
  3. Perform preventive maintenance on construction equipment (skid steers, scissor lifts, 2 & 4 cycle engines, engine driven; welders, hydraulic pumps, generators).
  4. Examine vehicles and equipment to determine if any additional safety or repair work is needed.

B. Perform repair work on vehicles and equipment such as breakdowns, malfunctions and emergency repairs in a safe, efficient, and quality manner.

(Degree of importance: High – 40% of job)

  1. Perform operation test prior to repairs to verify complaint.
  2. Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturers specifications including engines, drive train components, suspension and steering, fuel and ignition (gas and diesel), electrical systems, brakes and HVAC systems (as in-house tooling allows).
  3. Follow paper-flow procedures including documenting correct mileage/hours, work request descriptions, ordering of parts from authorized suppliers, warranty tags, core part returns, documentation all repairs.
  4. Perform final operational test on all vehicles and equipment to quality-check all repairs.
  5. Complete or assign related cleaning duties of all vehicles and equipment.

C. Oversee shop inventory and cleanliness.

(Degree of importance: Low – 20%)

  1. Maintain the department, tools, equipment and facility safe and organized.
  2. Monitor parts/supplies inventory and re-ordering from approved suppliers.
  3. Provide leadership in tool/equipment condition, location and loss prevention.
  4. Regularly encourage the maintenance staff toward a safe and clean environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of engines and controls
  • Knowledge of drive components and controls
  • Knowledge of brakes and suspensions
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and cooling systems
  • Knowledge of construction equipment such as; chainsaws, concrete saw, concrete vibrators, engine driven welders and hydraulic pumps, skid steers, mini-excavator, attachments, etc.
  • Skilled in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems on trucks and equipment.
  • Ability to operate various pieces of equipment such as; skid steers and attachments, scissor lifts, mini-excavator, etc.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, lift 80lbs.
  • Ability to discern color.
  • Ability to communicate well in English writing and speaking.
  • Ability to follow and give direction.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Papers are not required but skills are essential.
  • Must have Manitoba Certificate of Inspection Mechanic up to 8,900kg
  • Red Seal Automotive Service Technician papers required

Working conditions:

  • Mechanic shop (exposure to noise, dust, petroleum products)

References required:

Wages will reflect experience: $28 to $33/hour

Marketing Manager

The Marketing Manager will lead the development of W2’s marketing and communication strategies, advertising campaigns while maintaining a strong public relation and brand image. They will deliver strategic & creative communication products, as well as maximize the impact and alignment of key messaging, communication activities, and publications across all W2 companies externally and internally.

Our ideal candidate has experience developing and executing marketing campaigns, day-to-day marketing activities, as well as long-term strategy. Key Responsibilities:

Plan, develop and direct multiple avenues of marketing strategies to drive sales. Develop communications strategies, and collaborate with staff on content for website, social media platforms, print materials, video & audio.  Oversee and regularly post content on social media accounts and websites to engage existing customers and establish positive public relations. Provide oversight to brand identity by providing graphic design and editing of documents and presentations. Measure and evaluate return on investment for marketing initiatives including print, radio, and SEO. Collaborate with existing SEO providers.  

·         Plan and organize staff events and recreational activities.

·         Develop and communicate internal newsletters updating all W2 team members of current events within the group of Companies.

Remain up to date on emerging trends in the sector to respond accordingly. Copy writing in collaboration with subject matter experts for content.  Make recommendations related to software products and tools. Balance concurrent deadlines and prioritize the daily workload and work schedule.

Qualification & Skills:

5 - 8 years marketing and communications experience. Post-Secondary degree or diploma with a focus in Business Administration, Marketing or Creative Communications related field.  Experience in social media management. Strong experience in writing, proofing, and editing material with an attention to detail. Experience in working with senior executives and leaders with the ability to present proposals and plans. Basic project management, administration, and budget management skills. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, experience in inDesign is an asset. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with responsiveness and adaptability.

HR Generalist

The W2 Group of Companies (“W2”) is a collection of privately owned companies including Wallace & Wallace Fences and Doors, Wallace Perimeter Security, Universal Doors and New West Metals.

We are looking for an HR Generalist interested in working part-time  - 32 hours per week.  Days and hours of work are flexible.

The HR Generalist will assist in the management of the human resource function of W2 companies to optimize productivity, profitability and employee satisfaction.  The HR Generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities including the orientation and onboarding of new hires, benefits administration, training employee about the company vision, mission, policies, and procedures, and providing support to managers and all employees of that company.

In addition, an HR Generalist is expected to be well-versed in the provincial employment standards laws and regulations to help ensure W2 follows the legal rules of employment.

Key Responsibilities:

Communicate to internal stakeholders in Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations. Administer and educate employees of benefits and maintain a successful relationship with insurance providers.

·         Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, along with contributing to the development of policies.

Coordinate the recruitment process and hiring for job openings, perform interviews, screens, etc. Conduct exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations.

·         Conduct workplace investigations and resolve any conflicts that arise among employees.

·         Determine areas of improvement for employees, providing additional training resources as needed.

Oversee proactive orientation and training within the organization. Administer and record employee recognition and incentive programs. Develop and maintain job descriptions. Build and sustain beneficial relationships with employment agencies and educational institutions. Recommend, develop, and maintain human resource data bases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems. Develop and provide recommendations for policies and processes. Work closely with company safety officer/safety services provider to ensure seamless care of employees with respect to wellbeing and any WCB claims that arise.

Qualification & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management required. Minimum 5 years of work experience in HR required. Work experience or education in employment law or other area of regulations preferred. Work experience in recruitment preferred. Experience in the Construction and Manufacturing industry preferred. Demonstrated work knowledge of multiple human resource areas preferred. Demonstrated basic knowledge of employment laws and legislation. Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to solve HR related issues related to regulations, laws, and policies. Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
