Overhead Door Service & Install Tech - Helper

Wallace + Wallace is looking for a full time Overhead Door Service/Install Tech to join our team.

The primary responsibilities of the 'Overhead Door Service/Install Tech - Helper' is to provide outstanding customer service to our clients, attend job sites, install overhead doors, diagnose problems, provide solutions and carry out required work while reporting directly to the Construction Supervisor.

Primary Tasks and Duties:

  • Become an integral member of the Field Service Team
  • Gaining experience on all product lines and service support
  • Attend service calls, diagnose, problem solve and repair in an efficient manner
  • Install for new builds/retrofits – Residential and Commercial projects
  • May be required to attend after hour calls when scheduled

Requirements:

  • Construction and/or Electrical experience is considered an asset
  • Willingness to learn and grow a career within the company
  • Good customer service, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be reliable and courteous
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driver's abstract

Automated Gate Technician

Shipping and Receiving

We are seeking a full time Shipping and Receiving team member. The role requires an individual who is hands on, self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Tasks and Duties:

  • Responsible for the safe flow of industrial goods in and out of our warehouse and yard, checking for accuracy, and appropriately processing orders. Supports the warehouse by stocking shelves, performing housekeeping activities within the work area, and operating a forklift in support of the movement of goods
  • Receives goods into inventory, including unpacking and verifying contents against appropriate documents
  • Prepares packages to be sent out in accordance with information on the packing slip; picks and packs goods for shipment as per customer and branch orders.
  • Ensures goods are shipped in accordance with organizational best practices and customer requirements
  • Stock shelves with received shipments, using the appropriate sorting/organization system and equipment, including forklifts
  • Ensures the warehouse is maintained in a clean and organized fashion at all times
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
  • Operates forklift and activities within the work area in a safe manner

The Candidate Requirements:

Light/Medium Duty Truck Fleet Mechanic

Reports to: Asset Manager

Perform preventative maintenance, safeties, diagnosis, and repairs on pickups, light & medium duty trucks, and light construction equipment in a safe, efficient, quality minded and production focused manner. Perform maintenance and repair on any equipment used by in house installers (small engines, gas & diesel, hydraulics, battery powered)

Key Result Areas:

A. Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to maximize safety, productivity, and life of the unit.

(Degree of importance: High – 40% of job)

  1. Perform SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) inspections.
  2. Perform preventive maintenance on pickups and light duty trucks such as fluid changes, lubrications, safety inspections, and brake repairs.
  3. Perform preventive maintenance on construction equipment (skid steers, scissor lifts, 2 & 4 cycle engines, engine driven; welders, hydraulic pumps, generators).
  4. Examine vehicles and equipment to determine if any additional safety or repair work is needed.

B. Perform repair work on vehicles and equipment such as breakdowns, malfunctions and emergency repairs in a safe, efficient, and quality manner.

(Degree of importance: High – 40% of job)

  1. Perform operation test prior to repairs to verify complaint.
  2. Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturers specifications including engines, drive train components, suspension and steering, fuel and ignition (gas and diesel), electrical systems, brakes and HVAC systems (as in-house tooling allows).
  3. Follow paper-flow procedures including documenting correct mileage/hours, work request descriptions, ordering of parts from authorized suppliers, warranty tags, core part returns, documentation all repairs.
  4. Perform final operational test on all vehicles and equipment to quality-check all repairs.
  5. Complete or assign related cleaning duties of all vehicles and equipment.

C. Oversee shop inventory and cleanliness.

(Degree of importance: Low – 20%)

  1. Maintain the department, tools, equipment and facility safe and organized.
  2. Monitor parts/supplies inventory and re-ordering from approved suppliers.
  3. Provide leadership in tool/equipment condition, location and loss prevention.
  4. Regularly encourage the maintenance staff toward a safe and clean environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of engines and controls
  • Knowledge of drive components and controls
  • Knowledge of brakes and suspensions
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and cooling systems
  • Knowledge of construction equipment such as; chainsaws, concrete saw, concrete vibrators, engine driven welders and hydraulic pumps, skid steers, mini-excavator, attachments, etc.
  • Skilled in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems on trucks and equipment.
  • Ability to operate various pieces of equipment such as; skid steers and attachments, scissor lifts, mini-excavator, etc.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, lift 80lbs.
  • Ability to discern color.
  • Ability to communicate well in English writing and speaking.
  • Ability to follow and give direction.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Papers are not required but skills are essential.
  • Must have Manitoba Certificate of Inspection Mechanic up to 8,900kg
  • Red Seal Automotive Service Technician papers required

Working conditions:

  • Mechanic shop (exposure to noise, dust, petroleum products)
  • Some working outdoors as required

References required:

Wages will reflect experience: $28 to $33/hour
